Lessons I’ve Learned in Leadership and Life - What You Learn from Good & Bad Managers

You’ll find over your career that you’re going to have some great managers and you’re going to have some horrible ones.

What I’ve realized is that you learn as much from the bad ones as you do the good ones. Basically how not to act!

Good managers lead with empathy, caring and support, and they listen.

Bad leaders lead with fear and intimidation, they micromanage and they don’t listen.

I’ve always felt that if you feel good about who you are, you don’t need to criticize others and put others down. So when I’m dealing with a bad manager, I assume they don’t really feel too good about themselves and it’s more about them than me.

You know, you just have to manage getting through these times with the bad managers because they will come and go.

I think it’s important to focus on what you’re learning from the good ones and the bad ones.

Thank you so much for listening and Be Well!
